The Joint Commission Recertifies Jeanes Hospital as a Primary Stroke Center

The Joint Commission has recertified Jeanes Hospital as a Primary Stroke Center, recognizing the hospital's success in the implementation and mastery of clinical protocols for stroke patients developed by organizations such as the American Stroke Association.

"Our recent recertification is a testament to the work of our interdisciplinary team of nurses, therapists, physicians, and other care-givers in perfecting the use of best practice-based healthcare in the treatment of real or suspected stroke patients," said Linda Grass, President & CEO of Jeanes Hospital. "Our collaborative relationships with EMS and 24/7 participation of pharmacists during stroke emergencies are just a few examples of initiatives that Jeanes Hospital has used to raise the bar when it comes to caring for the stroke patients who depend on us."

The Jeanes Hospital Primary Stroke Center, led by Director Marcia Halpern, MD, treats around 200 patients each year. It has earned a steady stream of awards and certifications that attest to its medical excellence. Last year, Jeanes earned its fifth consecutive special recognition in the American Heart Association / American Stroke Association's "Get With The Guidelines" Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award program. It was also the second consecutive year the hospital earned the Gold-Plus accreditation for stroke care, reserved for the nation's top stroke hospitals.
