Free Services to Our Community

Prostate Screening
Annually, Jeanes Hospital hosts a free prostate cancer screening for men aged 50 and older, in conjunction with our medical staff. We screen between 80 and 120 men every year. The screening consists of two parts - a digital rectal exam and a PSA blood test.

This year's prostate screening will take place in September.

Bereavement Support
The loss of a loved one brings us face-to-face with a seemingly insurmountable emotional hurdle. While nobody can fully understand a person's pain, we know that feelings such as anger, confusion, emptiness and helplessness all accompany grief. What we can offer, however, as providers of acute care services, is our support to help guide our friends and visitors through their difficult time. Unfortunately, when a loved one passes away, very important decisions must be made quickly. Grief, by its very nature, makes it hard to concentrate and focus. With so many things to remember and manage, the responsibilities may be overwhelming.

A chaplain from the Pastoral Care Department at Jeanes Hospital specializes in bereavement support. In her attempts to ease the grieving process of others, she has compiled a tool kit, containing all of the necessary items to help organize thoughts and prompt good decisions.

The tool kit is distributed by nurses, chaplains and our home health team. To learn more, call Jeanes Hospital's Pastoral Care Department at 215-728-2036, or click here to contact us via e-mail.
