Jeanes Hospital Earns Third Straight Patient Safety Award

For the third straight year, Jeanes Hospital has received the Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award.

The Patient Safety Excellence Award recognizes hospitals that have the lowest occurrences of 13 preventable patient safety events. These hospitals are in the top 10 percent in the nation for patient safety.

“At Jeanes Hospital, we are committed to creating the safest possible environment for our patients,” said Marc P. Hurowitz, DO, MBA, president and CEO of Jeanes Hospital. “To receive this recognition for three straight years is an indication of how hard everyone works to achieve that goal.”

Healthgrades evaluated 3,489 hospitals that submitted at least 100 patient experience surveys to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), covering admissions from April 2015 to March 2016 in order to identify hospital performance in this area. Patient safety refers to how effective a hospital is at protecting patients from preventable injuries, infections, and other serious complications.

“More than ever before, consumers have access to transparent information to assess care quality before making important healthcare decisions,” said Brad Bowman, MD, chief medical officer at Healthgrades. “The Healthgrades research reveals hospitals that prioritize patient safety are also more likely to achieve high quality outcomes for their patients.”
